Is fresh food better than frozen?
Research shows that frozen produce is just as nutritious, sometimes even more so than fresh produce, as fruits and vegetables begin to lose nutrients as soon as they’re picked, with some losing 50% of their nutrients within 3 days. Freezing is an excellent way to preserve nutrients and prevent the losses that occur to fresh produce during travel and sale time. The Food Standards Agency refers to freezing as ‘pressing the pause button’, as freezing conditions prevent spoilage and changes to nutritional composition from occurring.
