In Proud Partnership with Sophie's Legacy
Sophie’s Legacy is a charity dedicated to improving hospital food for patients, particularly children. Founded following Sophie’s experience in hospital, the charity works to ensure food is seen as a vital part of care, recovery, and dignity.
apetito Healthcare is a proud partner of Sophie's Legacy. As part of this collaboration, we are exploring the opportunity to run child-centred focus groups. These groups will help to ensure children’s voices are heard and reflected in apetito’s paediatric research.

Helping Shape Better Hospital Food for Children
At apetito, we understand that hospital food can play a vital role in recovery and comfort - especially in children. We also know that many children struggle to eat well in hospital, with factors like anxiety and unfamiliar surroundings contributing to a poor appetite.
That’s why apetito, in partnership with Sophie’s Legacy, is undertaking market research to better understand how food within paediatric settings can be improved.
This research brings together the voices of children, parents, carers, and healthcare professionals and decision-makers, to help shape a new approach to paediatric food in hospitals.
We want to hear from those who directly experience paediatric food offerings, with the aim to:
-
Understand what helps children feel comfortable and confident at mealtimes
-
Identify barriers that prevent children from eating in hospital
-
Explore how nutrition and safety should be balanced in hospital settings
-
Support hospitals with food solutions that meet paediatric needs
This research will directly inform the development of our paediatric food offering, ensuring it is shaped by real insight rather than assumptions.
